Fireplace
Firewood is stored in the shed next to the cabin.
Safety First
– Keep all flammable materials at least 1 meter away from the stove
– Use only dry firewood
– Never use gasoline, lighter fluid, or other accelerants
Preparing the Stove
-
Fully open the air vents
-
Place 2–3 fire starters or thin kindling at the bottom
-
Add small pieces of firewood (2–4 cm thick), stacked in a cross pattern
Lighting the Fire
-
Light the fire starters
-
Close the door, but leave it slightly ajar for a few minutes to allow airflow
-
When the fire is burning well (after 5–10 minutes), add larger logs (5–10 cm thick)
Tip:
Top-down lighting — placing larger logs at the bottom and lighting kindling on top — gives a cleaner and more efficient burn.
Adding Firewood
– Wait until the flames are well established
– Open the door slowly to prevent smoke backflow
– Add 1–3 logs at a time
– Do not overfill the stove
Extinguishing the Fire
– Allow the wood to burn down naturally
– Do not use water — this can damage the stove
– Close the air vents when only embers remain

Snow Clearing
Snow Removal Service
-
The main driveway and parking area will be cleared during heavy snowfall by our snow-removal service.
-
Clearing is typically done early in the day, but timing can vary depending on weather conditions and workload in the area.
Guest Responsibility
-
Guests are responsible for keeping the pathway to the cabin, the steps, and the entrance area free of snow and ice.
-
Snow shovels are available on site and can be used at any time.
This helps prevent slips, ice buildup, and blocked doors.
Snow Accumulation on the Roof
Snowfall in the region can be heavy at times, but the cabin is built to handle typical winter loads.
However, if you notice unusually large amounts of snow accumulating on the roof — or if you are uncertain:
Please contact the host.
We will assess the situation and arrange clearing if needed. Guests should never attempt to remove snow from the roof themselves, as this can be dangerous.
⚠ Safety Notes
-
Be cautious when walking on snowy or icy surfaces — conditions can change quickly.
-
If outdoor stairs or paths become icy, sand or salt may be available — contact us if you need assistance.
If snow conditions create difficulty accessing the cabin, parking area, or walkways, or if you feel unsure about roof load: Please contact the host at any time. We are here to help ensure a safe and comfortable stay.
